Locksmith self assembly

The Locksmith self assembly feature allows users with locksmith rights to produce cylinders and keys directly from a lockchart without placing an order. This is useful for on-site production, prototypes, or when the locksmith needs to manufacture items immediately from an existing design.

Access

When a user has locksmith rights on the lockchart opened in Key Studio™, an extra menu item appears allowing them to activate the self-assembly screen.

Workflow

To use self assembly, users first make the required changes in the lockchart, e.g. create additional instances or mark items for production, just as they would when preparing an order.

When a user opens the self-assembly screen, they are presented with a list of all instances marked as 'produce'. Technical data for the lockchart is retrieved from the server and kept in memory. This technical data is displayed when the user selects an instance they want to produce.

From the self-assembly screen, users can export data files for key cutting and engraving machines. See Interaction to key cutting & engraving machine for details.

Synchronisation

After production, the user is responsible for synchronising the changes to ASSA ABLOY to keep the lockchart up to date in the technical archive.
